This is a very simple concept but it is an important one. Everyone is different and everyone has different interests. Sometimes the circumstances of life get in the way of creative pursuits. However it is important to have interests that allow you to become immersed in what you are doing. It could be a walk in the country, a trip to a museum, participation in a sport, or anything else that you enjoy doing. The idea is to allow yourself to find something that naturally attracts your interest. It should be the type of activity that your mind is brought back to over and over again: the type of thing that you might even catch yourself daydreaming about. Finding something that really captivates your interest will motivate you. The specific type of activity is not as important as the idea that you are actively involved. This will stimulate your creative intelligence. Finding some kind of activity that you can feel passionate about will enable you to enjoy the experience of Life as it is happening.

If you can take this attitude of interest and enjoyment into your practice you will be inspired to continue to deepen your practice. Practice will become effortless fun. You will practice for the joy of practicing. This requires you to explore and understand the things about your own practice that attract your attention. Within the limits of safety, these are often the things to make your practice about. If you can begin to make your practice about what draws your attention and interests you during the practice, you will be more able to connect to the deeper aspects of practice and also the deeper aspects of yourself.

And if you can take this attitude from the things in your life that inspire you and from your experience while practicing and bring it into the rest of your life, all that you do can be a little more filled with inspiration. This is how to begin to take your practice off your mat and into your life. And life is where the real practice begins.
